Synopsis.
· Knocking on the door, from Laura’s perspective, we cannot hear the knocking. The camera then goes into the British Sign Language Centre (BSLC) and we can hear the knocking and when Alice opens the door.
· Laura walks in and sits down, quite hesitant. Alice greets her, Laura cannot lip read very well so Alice gets out a whiteboard and writes down.
· Laura goes to write down
· Fade into the flashback
· Establishing shot of outside the bar.
· You see Laura dancing with her friends; we can hear everything and shows she is a sociable person.
· Guy sits at the bar, looking at Laura, Laura and her friends giggle about it
· The guy comes and asks her to dance
· Laura says yes, they dance.
· He asks her to get a drink and she accepts while her friends go to the toilet to fix their make up etc.
· Shot of her friends in the toilet speaking about who the guy is lauras talking to.
· Shot of laura and guy at the bar, buying her drinks and talking.
· He needs to go for a cigarette so asks her to join him.
· She accepts and they walk outside together
· He tells her the smoking area is round a dark alley and as she is unknown of the area she believes him.
· He starts to get a bit friendly, stroke her cheek and grab her hip
· She feels uncomfortable but laughs it off
· Then he goes too far
· Friends walk past trying to look for Laura
· Laura screams , he grabs her mouth and is telling her to be quiet and she isn’t.
· Friends come back for her and run to see if she’s ok, waiting at the end, calling her name to see if she’s ok.
· Guy warns her that she needs to shutup.
· Guy bricks her because she doesn’t shutup
· Friends come running over, checking if shes ok
· Hearing goes on and off and so does her vision. POV shot from the floor.
· Back to the BSLC, laura shows whiteboard “so thats why im hear to learn”
· Alice writes on her whiteboard “don’t worry im hear to help”, then does OK in sign language
· Laura tries to copy, and alice helps her.
· Laura smiles.
